Performative Intervention

Sleephow #1 is the first in a series of artistic interventions focusing on temporalily "eliminating" key figures by consentfully drugging them with sleeping pills in strictly defined surroundings and circumstances. 
Being host to a dinner party at his own appartment, to which he invited a number of high profile art professionals, it seemed worst to miss his own event and all the opportunities to socialize with his guests – a clear professional and private interest. Thus, Robert Punkenhofer was put to sleep in his son's bedroom, which could only be entered briefly and individually with the artist’s company. 

„I had no interest in putting him on public display throughout the party and found it important to stress the intimacy of sleep. In fact, the word spreaded fast and every single guest wanted to take a look at Robert sleeping, whom they had encountered as the superbusy ViennaArtWeek director before.“ says Hangl.
